Work-based learning is a type of job training that combines on-the-job and classroom instruction. While there is not one universal definition, Women of Color On The Move prioritizes work-based learning that takes places within the context of a wage-earning, long-term employment relationship between a business and a worker in which the learning worker has the opportunity to develop measurable skills through instruction both at the work-site and off-site at a school or training program and in which the measurable acquisition of skills leads over time to higher wages and potentially an industry-recognized credential. Apprenticeship, On-the-Job Training, and Career and Technical Education with a work-site component could all be included under this definition of work-based learning.
